U-18 provides a wide array of services and supports to children and their families. Like all our other services, U-18 is based on personal plans that deal with individual needs but typical services are described below: |
|
1. FAMILY SUPPORTS |
|
2. OUT OF HOME RESPITE |
| 3. AFTER SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES Sometimes a child may want to spend time after school with other children. This is a program where they can do that for short periods of time. |
| 4. OUT OF HOME PLACEMENT While these situations are rare, the U-18 community residence is an accessible home available when a child's needs cannot be met in the family home. Typically, this service will work alongside Children and Family Services Authority professionals to help ensure that the best interests of both child and the family are met. |
| 5. SUPPORT FOR INDEPENDENCE For the 15 to 18 year old young person, this program provides work experience placement, personal support and related training in such things as preparing for work and use of public transport, etc. |

"A leader and provider of choice in enriching the
lives of persons with developmental disabilities." |

| The GPDAMH believes that all children deserve to be active members of their family, school and community. "U-18" services are intended to support that belief, especially for children with developmental challenges. |
