There are 2 types of support systems offered through Residential Services:

  1. Community Residences >>
  2. Independent Funded Services (IFS) >>

1. COMMUNITY RESIDENCES
There are 8 community residences throughout the city. Most are duplexes. One home provides both permanent and relief services to adolescents (See: "Children's Services") while the remaining homes serve adults. Staffing ratios adjust in each home to accommodate client need. All homes provide training and support in home management skills, life skills, promotion of independence and individual decision making.

2. INDEPENDENT FUNDED SERVICES
This type of service is independently funded through Alberta Social Services. Funding will depend on the individual's need for support. The individual contracts for support workers. The person lives in his or her own home or apartment and support workers come to the individual's home to provide training in life skills and home management.
